2010 preseason 53-man roster prediction Empty Re: Cobbs as a Returner

Post by Tofu Dan Sat Aug 14, 2010 11:08 am

Yes, he can do it, in the basic sense. But can he really do it? Cobbs' ran a 4.68 pre-draft, and it's now several years and a torn ACL later. He averages 20 yds per return oover his career. Can we afford to have a return man who averages the same as a kneel down in the end zone? If your 53 is correct, I certainly hope Nolan Carroll makes some noise on returns in the preseason, and yanks the job from Patrick.

Good article. Thanks.

No I don't necessarily think Cobbs is a good returner. Bess is a below average punt returner. My point was that for someone like Davis, that won't play offense, he can't just be better than Cobbs or Bess as a returner. He has to be SO much better that the Dolphins are willing to use another roster spot on him. The Dolphins can rationalize downgrading their return game if they can use a roster spot that helps elsewhere, so someone like Davis has to make themselves indispensable.

2010 preseason 53-man roster prediction Empty RE Miami Dolphins: 2010 Preseason 53-Man Roster Prediction

If Donald Thomas gets cut it will force me to reevaluated the validity of the Universe. Not because I'm such a Thomas fan but because the prediction is so out-of-this-world, bizarro-world strange. Roberto Wallace is too good to try to get through wavers, so there has to be a decision made how to keep him on the team. I always though Murtha was a good pickup but you might be right.
