Dolphins' issue draft picks jersey numbers Empty thomas jersey number

Post by phinfan Wed Apr 28, 2010 1:52 pm

I feel there are only so many numbers and yes Thomas was a great player and I miss him but its been enough time to assign it unless the new player volunteers it for another number. I have Thomas's jersey so to buy a name patch to sew it on would be a cheaper alternative to buying a new jersey instead of never wearing it again. I think players should buy their numbers then we wouldn't have this problem. Thanks and go Phins!

54 will one day be retired and Thomas will be in the Hall of Fame. It should not be issued in the mean time. And how could you possibly ruin a Zach Thomas jersey?

Dolphins' issue draft picks jersey numbers Empty STAND UP FOR ZACH

Post by Donnie D Wed Apr 28, 2010 6:03 pm

A football players number, unlike with other sports, is his identity because you can't see their face when they're playing. Players take their jersey numbers very seriously. Messing with a guys number is a personal insult. I know people who never played won't understand this, but that's the way it is. I have been a Dolphins fan since I was old enough to pick up a football, and I love our team, but I'm not very impressed with the way this team has dealt with several of our veteran players with Zach being the most agrevious case. I'm very concerned about Zach Thomas' long term health due to his history of concussions, and it seems to me with the way Zach gave it up 100% on the field for this team everytime he played they could show him the respect of not treating him like yesterdays trash.

This is classic Parcells. He wants to make sure that all the stars from Miami's past don't get anymore recognition than he does. His style has gotten old and the last few teams he's controlled all reflect that. A bunch of wannabe's trying to live off old success!

Dolphins' issue draft picks jersey numbers Empty Zacks insult

Post by Pat S. Thu Apr 29, 2010 10:19 am

Lets look at how the new front office conducts business. This is nothing new for them, they have got their reputation for taking high profile players and showing very little respect if the player in question even dare question them. The situation with Zack Thomas is very easy to figure out if you just follow the dots. First we have Jason Taylor who is very good friends with Zack and is Zacks brother-in-law. What happened with Jasons contract talks? Zack just recently stated that he wanted to retire as a Dolphin(re-sign as a dolphin and retire). Then Zack states that he feels the front office shows no respect to players. Now this brings us to Zack's number 54. Can anyone tell me how Zack resigns with miami and retires with the miami 54. I can hear Ireland and Parceles saying to each other," How does he like us now."

Dolphins' issue draft picks jersey numbers Empty get over it!!!

Did you people forget that the Dolphins were no longer good enough for him? He left they didnt just get rid of him. Most of the great backers that have come through the league didnt experience success right away and in some cases never did. The majority of the greats dealt with trials and tribulations with their teams before they triumphed. Dont get me wrong i loved Thomas when he played for the Phins and he was and is one of my favorites of all time. On the other hand his apparent talent didnt help get them over the hump obviously. He didnt stick with them through thick and thin. Did he always have the best supporting cast? NO. Neither did #13.
He stayed til the end. The Phins didnt take #54 away from him he gave it away went he went to the Cowboys. Remember, he wanted to leave, we didnt want him to go. Why should they bestow him that honor?
